Runa Kersten-Guiler
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHER
Chemical Engineering & BioEngineering Department
... & German within the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures
Bio
Runa grew up in Stratham, New Hampshire. After a long day in classes, you can find her touching grass outside or escaping to the mountains for an adventure in the woods. To Grandmother's house, we go! Runa is what they call a book worm, even getting paid to organize them (ask her about the Dewey-Decimal system).
Runa is a sophomore double major in Chemical Engineering and German, in case the last name didn’t give it away, She is already fluent and always happy to yap away in either language. Ich weiß, dass Sie zu translate.google.com gehen werden, um nachzuschauen, was ich hier sage, also werde ich einfach weiterhin Ihre Zeit verschwenden, während ich von hier aus lache.
As a recent addition to the Tsavalas Lab, she is hoping to gain more knowledge about polymers after having participated in research at CU Boulder (Hayward lab) looking into the crystallinity of biodegradable polymers. She hopes to pursue a career in sustainable materials. As polymers tend to fall into the "forever chemical" category, Runa yearns to be part of the movement that develops a new era of "only as long as we need and degradable by stimulus or by environmental factors on demand" .. chemicals. In this pursuit, she also hopes in parallel to develop a shorter name for this new era of materials.
Project 1: blah blah blah - Something to do with Degradable & Sustainable Polymers ...
Coming Soon
This space will be used to describe Runa's first project, when ready!
